LANSING, Mich., August 28th, 2018Liquid Web, LLC, the market leader in managed hosting and managed application services to SMBs and web professionals, becomes the first data center to install new energy efficient air conditioners financed by the Lean & Green Michigan PACE program.

“By installing new energy efficient air conditioners and air distribution system, we will create a more economical way of supplying conditioned air directly to the servers in the data center,” stated David Gibb, Financial Controller at Liquid Web. “As we continually upgrade Liquid Web’s infrastructure, we’re always looking for ways to adopt environmentally friendly solutions. These 20 new air conditioners in our data center in Lansing, will reduce our energy footprint,” said Gibb.

For data centers such as Liquid Web’s, air conditioning is essential for protecting the thousands of servers from overheating and deterioration over time. This is important for Liquid Web, as their data centers are precisely regulated year-round to ensure optimal equipment reliability. “Everything from the network, power and cooling infrastructure to the design and security of our data center buildings is carefully planned to ensure that Liquid Web customers have 100% uptime. We support mission-critical sites, stores, and applications so uptime is crucial for our customers,” said Gibb.

According to a case study by Lean & Green Michigan, many commercial building owners can spend upwards of $200 billion per year on utilities, with 30% of the energy going to waste. These energy projects often require significant up-front capital and take years to achieve profitability. However, working with PACE eliminates the financial burden via a property tax special assessment.

Liquid Web and Hillcorp Properties are the nation’s first data center that will utilize PACE financing for energy efficiency upgrades. The project is set to complete in the summer of 2019.
